Damage can occur if decks aren’t properly maintained. Whether you own Castle Rock real estate, or Glen Allen real estate, if you have a deck, there are a few things you can do to prolong the life. Even composite decking should be cleaned once a year and stains should be treated immediately so they won’t soak in.

Clean the decking thoroughly at least once a year. Many homeowners might opt for pressure washing because it is easier than a bucket and a scrub brush. Although power washing is a great time saver, be careful not to use too powerful a setting. Sometimes a good old fashioned scrub brush & bucket is best at getting to all parts of the deck.

Check the label on the cleaners you use, ones that contain bleach will fade the wood and harm sealants.

Check all railings and make sure they are secure. This should go without saying, but they can be a safety hazard that can cost you thousands in medical bills, too.

Leafs & other debris can accumlate between boards if not dealt with regularly. Insects also love to hide there. Clean between every board.

Even if not staining, be sure to seal the deck annually. A sign that you need to reseal your deck is when water stops beading. Watch out for problems caused by moisture such as splitting of the wood that is caused by expansion & contraction.

If boards are secured with nails, when they loosen, remove them and replace with deck screws. Most deck boards are screwed down, although some cheaper and older decks have nails, which will need to be hammered down every year. After a while, replacement of certain boards will be necessary due to warping & splintering that can’t be fixed with just sanding. Careful attention should be paid to loose boards for safety reasons, too.

Store deck furniture where it won’t rust on the deck over the winter months. Metal furniture may cause a problem with this, but plastic or resin tables & chairs just might.

Immediately sweep any leaves and other debris from the decking to keep it clean and keep fungus or mold from growing and rot from occurring. If you have a wood deck, make sure to keep it clean and dry as often as possible.

Keep the above tips in mind & you could extend the life of your deck by two or three times.

You should look carefully into buying the right hot tub covers for your specific hot tub. There are many advantages of having a good cover for it, mostly to keep it clean and well maintained. These sort of things do require a fairly high degree of maintenance, so you need to look carefully and getting the right sort of hardware to minimize the problem.

By far the most obvious reason why you would want to get a hot tub cover is simply because you don’t want to have any unwanted contents falling into the tub. Because of this reason, it can also be safer, since it will be cleaner and also a cover will help to prevent any small children from falling into it.

Make sure that cover fits properly over the pool. Ideally, you will want to be able to buy cover which are specifically designed for your hot tub. Ideally, it should have a steel room around it which will allow it to fit properly and securely. This is also going to make it a lot safer, since had is going to be almost impossible for small children playing in the area to fall into it.

It also helps to keep the hot tub warmer. If your hot tub is outside, then certain covers can help to keep it warm. Some covers are a very good at absorbing and holding sunlight, so you can use your hot tub for more time every year. This means you get a lot more use out of it, and a lot better value for money.

Since you will be saving costs on energy with a decent cover, you won’t have to pay so much for heating it. You won’t have to have so much eating, since the reliable cover will help to insulated better which will make it much more appropriate and more cost efficient.

Make sure you take time to choose the right sort of cover. Depending on the setting where your hot tub is located, you may want to have a different type of cover. If you want one which fits properly, hopefully there should be one exactly suited to your hot tub and designed specifically for it.

Some hot tub covers also come with a steel rim. This will allow her to securely fit over the hot tub, enhancing safety and making it much more efficient as well. It will help to provide for a much cleaner experience, since it will properly fit over your hot tub. Just make sure that you get one which is specifically designed for the hot tub that you have.

A hot tub heater is a necessary part to the hot tub experience as it can keep the unit hot so that you can enjoy soaking in the tub. The hot tub heater often has quite a bit to do with the quality and price of the hot tub unit as there are various ways to control the heat in the unit.

Different options include heaters that control with the use of a timer and heaters that automatically switch off when they reach a preset temperature level. Considering the different options, and the importance they play in the hot tub, you have to understand the different styles, how they work and what they provide before you purchase your hot tub.

Temperature controlled hot tub heater

The way a temperature controlled heater works is that it will automatically shut itself off when the water reaches a certain temperature. This is great because the water won’t ever reach a point where it’s too hot for you, it will reach the designated temperature and hotness level and then shut down without you needing to worry about it.

Within the temperature controlled heater category, there are several different options. Some only come with one or two preset temperatures while others come with a handful or more of different temperature choices. Providing more flexibility are models that allow you to enter the exact and specific temperature of your choice. The more premium or expensive the heater, the more control settings you will have.

Timer operated hot tub heaters

In addition to the temperature controlled hot tub heater, you can also get a timer controlled hot tub heater. This is an instrument that depends on time instead of temperature to heat the water in the hot tub. The timer controlled hot tub heater can be set on a timer so that it will heat up for a certain amount of time and then stop. These units are not as popular, or as safe, as the temperature controlled hot tub heater.

Hot tub heaters that offer both time and temperature control

Considering the two options above, many people opt to buy a hot tub heater that is controlled both by time and by temperature. This provides the highest level of safety and control, and offers the best all around hot tub experience. Even with a top heater like this, you should still start with low temperatures when using a hot tub for the first time. And before you ever sink into your hot tub, you should consult your doctor to ensure you don’t have any looming medical problems that would make high heat levels dangerous for you. The hot tub heater with the most amount of controls is the heater that will be the safest and the most enjoyable to use.
